November PTA meeting
Our next PTA meeting will provide an update on plans for Jie Ming's move to the Homecroft facility. Representatives from the SPPS planning office will give a presentation on where they are in the planning process and take questions.

If you would like to be involved in our preparations for the move, join the Homecroft Committee on Konstella, or contact Becca Pryse.

Movie Night
December 8th will be Movie Night at Jie Ming from 5:30p to 8p. Drop off the kids or join them for a Friday night movie with their friends. Movie nights were a huge hit last year. RSVP here. We also need parent volunteers.

Chinese New Year Performance
Jie Ming will celebrate Chinese New Year on Friday evening, February 9th at Highland High School.  This is our biggest event of the year. Over the next few months the students will be preparing to delight friends and family with songs and dances.

The Chinese New Year Committee will be busy helping to coordinate the event.  Some of the tasks we have have been involved with include:
* preparing costumes for students,
* providing refreshments after the event,
* organizing volunteers,
* decorating the facility, and
* working with the facility to ensure performance needs,
* creating artwork,
* publicizing the event,
* videotaping the performance.

These are also tasks before the day of the event, so we need a team to make it happen.  Please go to Konstella and join our committee to help with the event planning/preparation.  If you want to help (without joining the committee), please email or call Hue Soo.

Mid-Autumn Moon Festival a Success
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and attended the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival on October 13th.  We had delicious food, fun activities, generous donations for our silent auction, and most importantly, community.  I only wish for it to have lasted longer.

A huge thank you to all of the families that donated to our Mid-Autumn Moon festival auction.  Due to your generous donations, we were able to raise over $1,900.

If you haven't already responded to our feedback survey, please take a couple minutes share your thoughts so we can improve for next year at our school's new location!

Give to the Max Day 2017
November's Give to the Max Day is upon us and we need your financial support to  supply our students with the means to succeed.  This is a wonderful opportunity for families, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends to support your child(ren).  Our goal this year is to raise $8,000. 100% of the money donated is tax-deductible.  The PTA will use this money to help support our students and staff by providing funds for
* supplemental classroom materials,
* field trips/transportation,
* art residencies,
* classroom library materials, and
* much more.
November 16th is the actual Give to the Max Day, but our Give to the Max page is up and running now.
Please send this link to family and friends.

Box Tops for Education
Thank you to all who collected and sent their Box Tops For Education to school with their students! We just sorted, trimmed, counted, and mailed in 1094 box tops for a total of $109.40 for the school! Also, there were box tops sent in at the end of last school year for $128.50. The combined total that Jie Ming will receive in the December check from General Mills is $237.90! Keep sending those Box Tops in every month. Please make sure they're not expired, as GM can't accept those.
Thank you!

Minhua Chorus presents the Rhythm of the North Winds
November 11 at 7pm at St. Catherine University.
China is a large country. Thanks to the difference in history, geography and weather, southern and northern China have widely different cultures. In the south, rivers and lakes are everywhere, and the weather is warm. As a result, the southern culture is mild, supple, and gentle. Northern China, on the other hand, has vast prairies, deserts, and huge mountains, along with cold weather. Consequently, the northern culture is heavy, bold, and uninhibited. On November 11th, Minhua Chorus will present to you northern Chinese culture in songs and dances.

The performance will have both Chinese and English MC and subscriptions. For every ticket you buy ($12 each), $2 will be donated to Jie Ming PTA to support activities for Jie Ming students and parents. For tickets contact our PTA Secretary, Ming Chen. mingchen0312@gmail.com
