GET CONNECTED, STAY CONNECTED
The Jie Ming PTA hosts a service called Konstella. It is an on-line communication tool that allows parents to connect, make groups, see the PTA events calendar, and get the latest announcements. Most Jie Ming families are on Konstella. To join Jie Ming's Konstella site, click here
Parent Facebook group
The PTA manages a closed parent group on Facebook that some parents use to share information with and pose questions to the larger Jie Ming parent community. Search for: Jie Míng Mandarin Immersion Academy and request to join.
The Jie Ming PTA website www.jiemingpta.org is a resource for parents. Think of it as the hub to connect you to everything else. We've made major updates to make it more useful and relevant to you, check it out!
Being a PTA member is a simple way to show your support for the many parent volunteers that work hard to build a strong, vibrant school community. Become a member by clicking here today!
Box Tops for Education
Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to earn cash for our school. We have a marked collection tub on a table in the main entry hallway. Clip those pink Box Tops and send them to school with your student throughout the year! You can multiply your impact by downloading a free app, just search "Box Tops".
Last April, we received $369.10 for Box Tops. This year, our goal is $500. Our 5th graders will be helping decide how best to use the money we collect.
More about our Box Tops program here.
Up to 2.5% of all your purchases can go to Jie Ming PTA.

FUNdraising / Grants
We have some exciting new events planned for this year. As our school continues to grow, so will funds needed to support our kids and teachers with supplemental materials and events. As we all know, the school's budget is very limited and barely covers daily operating expenses. Money raised by the PTA allows our teachers to offer additional programming (e.g. art and music residencies, field trip opportunities, etc.) to supplement curriculum.
Save The Date:
- Thursday, November 15th - Give to the Max day - a one day, on-line, opportunity to support your favorite charity (Jie Minge PTA).
- Saturday, November 17th - 1st Annual Fall Great Gathering FUNdraiser - an adult only fundraising event. Think great food, fun games, amazing silent auction items and a wonderful way to meet Jie Ming parents.

School Supplies Bundling
We are figuring out a way to simplify the purchase of school supplies. Each year parents take their list of supplies and do the school supply scavenger hunt. The hope for this committee is to leverage our collective purchasing power to buy supplies at reduced cost and significantly reduce the number of supplies that individual families have to purchase. If you are interested in helping with this initiative, message Georgie Slade or Joe Waln on Konstella.
We are charged with maintaining the different digital platforms and tools available to our school community. This includes Konstella, the Facebook group, PTA website, school website, and a G Suite (Google) account. The goal is to make it easier for parents and teachers to interact in meaningful ways. If you enjoy playing with these sorts of tools, message Joe Waln on Konstella.
The Spirit Committee is responsible for raising the roof on School Spirit! This committee is responsible for the communication, promotion and visibility of school both within the walls of the institution and the surrounding communities. The Spirit Committee hopes to help engage and support positive behavior and activities with the students and their families to promote a spirit of belonging and inclusivity so that all are welcome. Ways to engage:
- Co-host Family Meetups at parks and other public locations
- Help with ordering and managing of Spirit Wear T-shirts and swag
- Write press releases and pitch stories for publicity and promotion
- Help design flyers and posters
- Help with communication plans and the promotion of school activities for heightened awareness
Commitment: 5 to 10 hours a month (or as needed). Contact Lily Shaw on Konstella or email email@example.com
Is an awesome celebration at the end of the year for our students, organized entirely by parents. Contact Janice Roller on Konstella if you'd like to help plan it this year!

Zero Waste School
There are some easy, effective ways to combat waste in our school:
- ColorCycle - recycle old markers in a bin in hallway next to Box Top collection. Learn more here
- Trex - We are doing the Trex challenge in November! Help us by collecting plastic films and bags and recycling them at the designated bin at school. See what we're collecting here.
- We're also working on getting signs and a bin to collect Crayons for Cancer. Learn more here.
